In this review I’ll be looking at Rival’s RB7 Fitness Plus Boxing Gloves. I give you my own experience of using the gloves along with my thoughts on the brand, design, features and the pros/cons.
Rival Brand

Rival boxing gear are one of the most established and recognised fighting sport brands in the world. They are Canadian owned and offer high-quality, stylish and innovative products developed specifically for the boxing, mma and fitness market.
Their boxing gloves are very much considered to be leading the industry with their innovative approach to providing unique boxing gloves from beginners to world champions. I’m a big fan of how Rival tends to experiment and try new innovative designs and materials with their products.
Glove Design and Impressions
In the case of the Rival RB7 gloves, they have created a great versatile and quality fitness bag glove for boxing beginners and fitness users. The glove itself is made out of synthetic Carbonium PU material which helps make the glove very durable on the outside layer. It almost looks like it has carbon fiber material on the outside of it which is cool, but some might find tacky.
The RB7’s also has a layered moulded foam which offers great protection and comfort for anyone using this when impacting with a punch bag or pads.

These gloves however are not an all purpose glove and are not suitable for sparring which is the big downside if you plan on this. However, if you are just looking for a glove for a bag or pad work this will be perfect for you. These will also make them a good pair of secondary training gloves.
In terms of the design, Rival have printed their brand logo graphic on the top of the glove. This is on all their gloves making them a pretty recognisable brand for those in boxing and mma circles.
They also have their brand name and logo on the patented Rival Ergo Strap System, which does actually have a secure fit around your wrist offering plenty of protection. As with all striking training, I recommend using hand wraps for maximum protection for your hands. Check out my full video review below for detail:
Materials
As mentioned above the RB7 gloves are made out of synthetic Carbonium PU material which covers the majority of gloves.
On the inside of the gloves, Rival have used a layered foam based material on the impact zone which is quite dense compared to a lot of other bag gloves I used. From personal use this really protects you hands when using the heavy bag for example which makes this one of the best features of this glove in my opinion.
Visuals
The brilliant thing about the RB7 bag gloves is that they come in multiple colour designs, giving you plenty of options to choose from – I went for the classic blood red look!
Check out some of the options below along with my personal gloves to have a closer look.

Final thoughts
Overall I would have to say this is a brilliant glove for a beginner starting out in boxing just wanting to practice with punching equipment first. This is also a great secondary training option glove for more advanced boxers.
My only criticism is that they do seem a bit plasticky with the artificial leather, but the RB7’s make up for this in their use of the impact foam when actually using the gloves while training.

IMPORTANT WARNING:
Another reminder for those that do plan on purchasing these gloves, they must never be used for sparring or hitting another person. They are designed specifically for bag and punch mitt use only. The layered foam padding used in the construction of these bag gloves are of a hard, high density nature not intended for sparring.
