Review

The Nike Speedsweep VII has to be one of my favourite boots I have ever used since I started boxing four years ago. At the time of originally purchasing I was looking for a good quality boot, that wouldn’t break the bank and this was the perfect fit for me! The Speedsweep VII is actually not officially a boxing boot, but is in fact for wrestling, which could come in handy if you partake in that sport too. In case of this review we will focus on the boot for a boxing experience.

The Speedsweep costs around $60-$100 / £50-£72 which might be bit steep for some, but it is a very durable boot that will last you quite a long time. I’ve been using this boot for the past three years (boxing training only) and has done me pretty well in that time. The sole of the rubber sole has proven to be very durable in that time and still has plenty of grip.

Nike Speedsweep soleThe boot itself if made out of breathable mesh and a firm suede to give the boot stability when you are pivoting or moving your feet. The top of the boot has a lace cover that stops your laces falling out or getting in the way as you move around, it also adds a cool style to the boot itself with the Nike branding.

As you can see in the review details above, the boot comes in a range of colour styles including:

  • Black.
  • Silver/Volt
  • Navy/Red.
  • Red/Navy
  • Plat/Grey/White.

I went for the traditional Black style when I purchased them, but I have to admit, I quite like the look of the Navy/Red version of the boot, great option if you care about style more.

Navy/Red Speedsweep VII

Pros

  • A durable lightweight rubber sole that will last you a long time.
  • Lots of different colour options to choose from.
  • Comfortable and breathable for your foot.
  • Reasonable amount for a quality boxing boot.

Cons

  • You will need to wash or fragrance them to make sure they don’t smell.
  • The ankle support could be firmer

Overall I give this boot an 8.5/10 – It has pretty much done the job for me over the past few years and the main thing I like about them is the comfort and their durability. My only suggestion is that you make sure give them wash every couple of months or use a shoe spray to keep them fresh.

  1. I am really glad I stumbled across this review. I have struggled finding durable boxing boots for a long time. I will be considering getting these but I had a few questions for you. I was just wondering how comfortable these boots were for you as well as if you had to break them in at all? Thanks for the great review.

    1. Hi Patrick, thanks for your feedback! I found them to be very comfortable and there wasn’t that much of a break in period. I still wear them for training and they are just as comfortable as when I first got them. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Thanks,

  2. Hi there,

Wow, I am impressed with this review!
My son is 17 years old, and he is crazy about boxing. He subscribed to a boxing club a few weeks ago, and now he is looking for a good pair of shoes. The Nike Speedsweep seems to be of high quality and comfortable to wear. I will show this article to my son so he can decide for himself.
Just a question, please. Are these true to size?

Thank you for this excellent post!

    1. Hi Daniella, thanks for your comment! That’s great to hear your son is getting into boxing, it really is a fantastic  sport and having good pair of boots is so important if you are about to start! In terms of size they are definitely true. They are’t the biggest boots in world so you will have lots of space to put them in your kit bag. Hope this helps & thanks again! 🙂

    1. Hi Danni, I probably wouldn’t recommend these for Amateur but probably something like the Nike Machomai 2 instead. Here is link to it on Amazon here:https://amzn.to/3veGW3X

      Hope this helps man!
